Intermediate Phase - Grade 4 – 7

A really exciting time at Merrifield!!

At this stage, children are comfortable within the school setting and are encouraged to make use of every opportunity to explore all areas in order to identify strengths, build on interests and grow in confidence, both in the classroom and in their extra-curricular activities.  Success is celebrated and challenges are addressed in a quiet and co-operative environment where a love of learning is continuously fostered and encouraged.

By means of continuous assessment children are monitored to ensure that they are working to their full potential. Different styles of assessment are used in order to ensure mastery and improved performance. At the end of the second and fourth term a summative assessment week takes place during which focused attention is given to test writing skills, memory skills, study timetable planning, revision skills and the review of exam papers.
